Why is the process of applying for Onekey device different for NRIC and NON NRIC customers?

ICICI has participated in the NAF (National authentication framework) provided by Assurity to offer transaction signing on its internet banking platform. NAF can safeguard against unauthorised access to sensitive information available online, such as bank account details. The NAF is envisaged as a nationwide strong authentication infrastructure that can provide consumers greater assurance when performing online transactions.

Under this programme the first time issuance of onekey device to be used for transaction signing is distributed basis resident status-

  • NRIC holders- OneKey, the 2FA device from Assurity is free of charge to all eligible Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents. The device however is only available through NAF 2FA enabled Online Service Providers of which ICICI bank is a participant
  • Non-NRIC holders - OneKey, the 2FA device from Assurity is charged to the NAF 2FA enabled Online Service Providers that is cost is borne by ICICI Bank for such customers and therefore ICICI BAnk has to apply on their behalf to Assurity.

About NAF and Assurity-The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) has set up a wholly-owned subsidiary, Assurity Trusted Solutions Pte Ltd (Assurity), to be the National Authentication Framework (NAF) operator for 2nd Factor Authentication (2FA). Assurity offers NAF 2FA services to Service Providers (SPs) and consumers at a national level. Assurity launched its 2FA services to Service Providers such as banks and security trading firms from 12 December 2011. ST Electronics (Info-Security) has been appointed to design, build, operate and maintain the NAF infrastructure for Assurity.
